"Am3ric4n Exceptionalism" it cant happen here, we are not like other countries, we are the best most powerful country the world has ever known - the Truman Show was an allegory of the country you live in. You never try harder cos you re the best, it can never be any better than it is so don't ask. It was how they controlled you but it seeped into every aspect of your society and culture - so it ironically made you incredibly vulnerable.
