@petermaunsell4575 Thanks - Im British by birth, a similar thing happened in the UK, but not as severe. In the 1920's and 30's Churchill was more terrified of the questions from his working-class voters in Oldham than questions in the House of Commons [if you read his diaries]. In 2016 the UK voted to leave the EU cos "immigrants". 52% of people thought that was a good idea and now poverty is at catastrophic levels and the country is collapsing, which was OBVIOUS. But it was only obvious if you were educated enough to not believe simplistic rubbish - and in the 80's people wanted tax cuts and dum8 kids are tomorrow's problem.
