I'm a British author on the collapse of civilisations - Reagan was the worst president you have had in modern times. The 2nd worst is Obama, he promised so much and delivered nothing, he was the last hope for meaningful change in America and his betrayal of that promise caused 50 million people to give up on politics. THAT led to Trump and everything you have going on today.

One of the guests said "we are to blame, the public, its our fault. We were so used to the hatred of minorities and the neoliberal hyper-capitalism of Thatcher and Reagan that when Blair and Clinton and Obama came about and they said 'its cool to be gay and its cool to be brown' WE all thought they were 100% on our side. They weren't, they were still neoliberal capitalists, they just donned a cool attitude and gave us a few crumbs of economics, but meanwhile, they were still privatising everything, still transferring wealth to the top 1%" "Obama was one of the most intelligent and articulate of presidents the USA has ever had." YES - and he used it to con the nation into thinking he was 100% there for you. Which is why in my book - he is the 2nd worst. Trumpp can NOT be better, he is totally incapable, but Obama could have transformed the USA and it would be genuinely world leading today - instead, he transferred wealth to the 1% and he handed the country to Trump.

@arellatikvah - Im just listening to "the rest is politics" podcast and Alister Campbell says the French President Macron's [who he knows] greatest fear is that his legacy will be the same as Obamas, that he was elected on such high hopes, failed the people so badly that he directly led to Trump - and Macron fears he has let the people down so badly his legacy will be LaPen the French fascist. I find this interesting cos as far as I knew I was almost a lone voice saying this for the last 5 years.
