  1. IN 1990 I was working commission only for a Newspaper selling advertising - I was earning about £300 a week on average. But I could NOT get a mortgage, commission only. So I had to take a massive pay cut for a job that paid £455 a MONTH, do that for 2 years and THEN I could get a mortgage.
