I was talking about the infantilisation of society only yesterday. No one can do anything and they don't possess the critical thinking to work out HOW to do anything, worse, they are not self aware enough to even know the thing might need doing in the first place. And I am categorically NOT blaming millennials or Gen Z here for being the people we have made them. China is putting in place real and significant measures to ensure civilisation continues in the event of a catastrophe, how do you farm if the refineries can not work, how do you move food if electronic communications go down. These things require a population who can solve basic problems and do basic things. In the west we are ONE Carrington event away from mass starvation.

@anthonysteel6877 ".We need to start valuing all people not just the wealthy" I 10% agree, and we need to recognise that knowledge and skills have use BEYOND "how much can you contribute to the GDP next year" Every university has to put an economic case for the research, we no longer value a "fully rounded education" its all about "how much will this qualification return in GDP. People are no longer members of a society but merely GDP-generating units. I live in Bulgaria now, some of the most important people in society are the old retired people, they look after the children whilst the parents work, they provide a VALUABLE service, not in the UK they stop being a GDP benefit and they are a problem to society to be "solved"
