IM AN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT and its the UK governments fault - I am resident in Bulgaria with NO passport and NO Bulgarian ID card because I ahve been waiting 2 YEARS for a passport...! The UK government insist you send the origionasl of your ID documtnes and then they lose them in the mountain of backloged applications.

@ProfessorTimWilson - OH YES - they took the payment - about £120 - the day of the application. I have written to my MP - David Davis - I have yet to receive a reply. I am very fortunate that in my apartment block are two police officers of the immigration police who know me - they have said if I get any problems just to go see them and they will resolve it. But quite naturally the BG authorities can not conceive of a person being without documents. Its a 24-hour process here OR immediately if you go to the correct government office.

@DropdudeJohn - OH no I love it. I am British therefore I am required by law to have a valid passport to stay in Bulgaria. I also need it for banking purposes. I have absolutely NO intention of "entering your [my] country with the intention to stay"

@DropdudeJohn - Cos its an offence not to have ID. Its really not that hard. I have been here 12 years, my passport ran out after 10 years. I sent it off with my BG ID card and I have not got it back. I am, thereofre, currently an "undocumented immigrant"...

@DropdudeJohn - I cant come home - no passport. But I am very close to getting in touch with the embassy. I wrote an email to David Davis my MP. I will write a physical letter on paper and see if that works. After that its the embassy.

@DropdudeJohn - Yeah - Id rather sort it out here. Its an inconvenience, its not a catastrophe.
