  2. It means he has to spend less money on heating. He also wears a lounge jacket / Banyan thing a lot of the time. I make bespoke men's historical clothing - I say this with no snobbery, we have FORGOTTEN how to stay warm. We are so used to getting up and turning a dial to make the living room 23ºC whilst we sit in a T Shirt and synthetic fibre sweat pants and we have no memory of life before this. We used to wear multiple layers of well fitting tailored clothing [very comfortable] and lounge jackets, robes, banyans, with an "indoor hat" as Tim is wearing now. If you look at pictures of the aristocracy in their stately homes in the 20's or 30's there were often wearing scarves in the living room. I did the whole of last winter with NO heating as an experiment - it was fine. We have literally forgotten how to keep warm.
