The amount of work, the detailed knowledge, the level of understanding he had as the first lord of the Admiralty - I can not even conceive that anyone but Ben Wallace comes even close today. He toured every single navel dockyard, port and ship building facility in the country - not for photo opps but to see how they worked, to understand them - and he didnt even get a salary...

  2.  @nickbarton3191  OH yes he did for sure, but in fairness to him, that was entirely normal at the time and the exact reason salaries from MP's were brought in - hasn't worked has it???
