China is doing a fantastic job of governing 1.4 million people. 85% of people are happy or very happy with their government and 87% believe it listens to their needs... Democracy is a great idea until you realise that the evilest and selfish, the best liars are defacto most likely to get elected and that 30% of the population are thick as rocks.

@dixgun - As far as I can tell the Russian military is very big, very high tech and very elite. Only the big bit is not high tech or elite and the high tech and elite but is not very big... And I spoke to a tire expert for the mining industry a while back, the tires on the trucks are a Chinese copy of a Michelin tire that costs £25,000 or something - the Chinese costs £500 and is quite literally a FAKE. They are sold as "movie props" but what they are is corruption tires, They get supplied by fake companies on government contracts a bit like the PPE fiasco in the UK. They explode after about 100 miles. He pointed out that if the tires are like this, almost every other aspect of the Russian military will be hollowed out with corruption, this seems to be the situation. 30 years of rampant corruption and Putin can not accept that the once genuinlu mighty USSR Red Army is a sham, so he is pumping thousands and thousands of young men in there to die. I had a report that the Russian govt had ordered them to find 75,000 death certificates from the old regeime. The guess is they dont want to print new ones as the size of the order would leak out...

@dixgun - Well you are probably conflating "CIA" with the American government. Or THEY are conflating the two. in 2021 the US government did a study of how happy populations were with their government and their perceptions of how democratic the relative governments were. America came out very badly. About 45% were happy to live there and about 27% believed the government listened to their needs. They never published the full study, they did publish the china figures in a "OH LOOK HOW BRAINWASHED THE PEOPLE IN CHINA ARE" kinda way Maybe the people you reference are citing the same study? If they are, it was a real study done by the US govt. China has lifted 800 million people out of poverty in the last 40 years, why would its population not be happy...???

@dixgun - I'm quoting a study, that's the beginning, the middle and the end of it. I feel you are taring me with the same brush as your friends. I loath Putn, I live 100 miles from Ukraine, I had to use my savings to help my friends evacuate, I wipe the dust of Mariupol of my car every morning. somedays, when the bombing is severe we get dust storms of red-grey brick dust... I respect xi jinping for lifting so many out of poverty. I mean the British and US governments are very clearly not the worst, there are horrific governments in the world. I mean truly barbaric. I think the UK and the USA are collapsing, but that is as much to do with capitalism coming to its inevitable end and the UK/USA being the most capitalistic therefore the first to go, than anything else. No I'm not like your friends.

@dixgun - I honestly dont know what Putin's strategy is. You DONT invade Ukraine in March - Over here we have very hard winters and "March Mud" the frost denatures the ground and it turns to liquid mud, you don't even walk your dog on it...!!! This is something everyone knows, its no mystery. So why did he do it...? It was the single dumbest thing he could have done as they could only travel by road, so they would be picked off - as they were. Its so dumb I have to think something is affecting his mental state. Xi is Chinese and the Chinese take a generational view of things, so he will definitely be looking to the situation in 30 years and not benefiting in the next 30 months. Im writing a book actually the concept you may like - post climate catastrophe China takes over the world except for the USA and the UK. The UK decides to cut off from the rest of the world and live permanently in 1930 with steam trains and white picket fences and compulsory cricket on Sundays. You are either a tenant [peasent] or Landlord class. The USA is actually the United Corporations Of America as an anarcho-capitalist hell hole with slavery. And the rest of the world under China is incredibly well run and everyone is happy, but everything you do every moment of the day counts towards your Social Credit Score. You just have to be a good person, that's all. But every aspect of your life is monitored and controlled, the steps you do, the calories you eat, the time you spend on social media etc etc. Its basically takes the three systems/ideologies to their logical conclusion - the idea is to discuss "what is freedom" America you are free to do anything in the pursuit of profit Britain is free from any interference from the rest of the world The Chinese world is free from hunger and worry Yet none of them are "free"

@dixgun - Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep...??? I've not read any of his work. Im just re-reading 1984 as part of my research for this book. I forgot how well-written it is.
