  2.  @ajs41  - No it didnt, it seemed that it worked so well cos the economy was growing rapidly and houses were affordable etc. But the foundations for this mess had been set. I wont claim the country was working well in the 1970's. But the boom of the 90's was fueled by the astonishing short-termism of the 80's. Sell of the social housing, sell off the national industries, free money coming out of the north sea, and where yo invest do it as cheaply as humanly possible cos when it falls down Ill be out of power or dead. Everything has been catastrophically underfunded for 40 years, everything has been sold off in order to provide tax cuts for the rich and corporations. And now the debt is coming due. Norway has a $2 trillion sovereign wealth fund and we have a massive collapse of everything - WHY...??? cos they taxed the rich and we gave tax cuts to the rich - THATS THE DIFFERENCE. We had the same start in 1975. They had a socialist government we had a Tory government for most of that time.
