  1.  @dougking4377  - As an English person its hard to say what we were taught. People with posh accents that went to expensive schools are better than you and you should vote for them no matter how incompetent or corrupt. That seems to be ingrained deeply in most of us. But we were taught critical thinking, possibly the greatest gift education gave me. At the time I hated it, every single problem had to be "solved from first principles - show working" You had to start with "I think therefore I am" and end up with the plans for a milking stool or whatever.

  2. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS when you elect spineless grifters as politicians... My home country has gone the same way - the UK. Electing people who promise quick simple solutions to very complex problems cos its easier than accepting life is complicated. Its GIVING IN cos you are too lazy or tired to bother thinking.
