Im a bespoke tailor of mens historical suits - this is my advice 1) BUY secondhand - if its good enough to be sold used, its good quality 2) find a local seamstress or tailor and have your clothes made, its not as expensive as you might think and you are WAY better off with a few good items that FIT perfectly and last for decades. 3) Learn to sew - ANYONE can make a pair of trousers or a skirt.

  3. I dont fly anymore, Id rather spend 2 days getting there on a train or a ferry or a car - its just too intensely horrible.

  5.  @AMidgetWalrus  The thing is - it should not be possible to make a shirt for $20 let alone $3. The amount of abuse that has to go into making a shirt for $3 is unimaginable

As a European, it is BAFFLING to me why your train system is not a world leader and not a massive source of tourist $$$ Your landscape is amazing - its all one country [no different companies and legal systems] - going to the US to go on the trains should be like going to Japan and taking the Shinkansen. NO country is more suited to HSR I can go to any European city in comfort for about €50

  9.  @julietfischer5056  Its easier than you think - but if you have a machine you can do machine darning. Just look up a video on it - its very easy. I kept a linen shirt going for an extra 3 years with machine darning

  10. I now like in ex-communist Bulgaria - this is what its like here, happy families living happy lives they can afford. They are doing a great job of modernizing without westernizing in the most part.

  13.  @bishop51807  Once you have built your everything on the basis of everyone having a car [oil and car lobby] its super hard to change it. And it seems to me the US car manufacturers have worked out - cars dont have to be cheap as long as people need them and you cant stop imports.

  14. Private Equity owns a lot of farm land in. the UK - they hire subcontractors to plough and plant. They destroy the land, the roads in the villages and even the local council cant do anything cos there are NO employees and NO offices, just an address in the Canmen islands.
