I left the UK in 2009 to go live in Bulgaria - there were horses and carts on dirt roads when I arrived, now there are electric busses every 7 minutes on glass smooth highways and free city wide WiFi, the first high speed rail line from my city to the capital will open very soon and I will be able to travel anywhere in Europe at 150mph, Istanbul will be my first trip - £30.
I cry, almost literally, when I look at the total collapse. People here have 2 years parental leave if they have a kid, hot food delivered every day if your kid is under school age, free school means for every kid, basically free university. My rent on a beach front apartment is £135 a month. The vast majority of people have 2 kids on one salary quite easily.
My standard of living - which is just the normal for a Bulgarian person - would utterly collapse if I returned to the UK.
Everything works here, everything, the high streets are busy, the bars and cafes are full, people are happy and optimistic. We dont have a Tory party.
