@RoonMian Most US food is literally illegal here in the EU. Even if we have the same brand name product - its a completely different set of ingredients.

@pumpjackpiddlewick Lots of the additives they use are not considered safe. Many products in the US are genetically modified "GMO's". They use vast amounts of antibiotics because the animals are kept in conditions that would kill them if they didnt have the antibiotics. The animals are injected with growth hormones to induce growth - a single chicken breast can weigh 500g. They allow salt water injection of meat to bulk it out and make it weigh more. The animal welfare conditions don't meet any EU regulations. The nutrition levels are so low in many products they no longer meet the EU definition of "food". There are many more but I cant remember them - my sister used to write the animal welfare legislation for the EU, so I have picked up a bit of an understanding of the differences. Food has 4 levels of processing from raw off the farm 1 to ultra-processed in a packet 4. American meat is often so adulterated that a pack of steak bought in a supermarket classifies as level 3...!!! A raw stake should be a 1, and in the EU it is 1, but a raw stake is the same level of processing as a ready meal.

@Member_zero If you look at the way the US GMO corporations use the GMO crops it forces the farmers to buy seed crops from them for ever cos the resultant crop is sterile of very low yeild, also the cross-pollination causes your neighbour's crop to be sterile destroying his yield. this is less of an issue on a bill acre farm in the USA - but its a massive issue in the EU with its tiny farms.

I LITERALLY DON'T HAVE A REFRIDGERATOR I go out and buy what I want to eat that day - I cant imagine not having access to fresh food. There are 4 greengrocers, 1 butcher, 2 fishmongers, 3 bakers and 2 mini supermarkets within 300m of my apartment. EDIT - I also dont eat anything out of season, mostly cos its not available, if we have a hard frost there are no root veg cos they cant dig them up, its that local.

@kmo20794 NA dude you are WRONG. Most US food is Illegal - my sister wrote much of the EU food and animal welfare legislation.
