I live in Bulgaria - the poorest country in the EU. 6 months ago we had a bit of a shortage as companies were prioritising sending products to countries where it was worth more, that lasted about 6 weeks. Since then there has been NO PROBLEMS, we have fully stocked shelves - its NOT global.

@nickedwards2904 "variation to a bulgarian supermarket" WOW super bigoted view of the world you have there!!! NO BG supermarkets have just the same range of stuff that UK ones do. ONLY WE have thriving high streets as well - vibrant and full of people.

@eventusiast - A lot of Bulgarian food companies are not owned by the large American food companies so they switched production to the US market for a while - which shows the problem with letting foreign companies buy out your essential services...!!!

@nickedwards2904 - TOTAL BS. You do NOT have more choice and variation - we can get thousands of products that you cant. YOU BELIEVE you have a bigger choice co you believe in some weird British Exceptionalism, The supermarkets are British ergo they are better. As it happens - I HATE the fact that supermarkets have such a wide variety of choices here, cos it has to be shipped across the world and THAT IS A VERY BAD THING. No one needs weird fruit from South America. What we do have that you DEFINITELY do not is local high streets that sell locally grown and reared seasonal food - and that is where I shop. Not in the God awful supermarkets you are so proud of. My coffee is roasted at the back of the shop i buy it from. My cheese is delivered in buckets to the shop every morning by the farmer who makes it. The yoghurt is different every day cos its NOT made on a production line but in batches every day. The first of the winter vegetables are starting to arrive and my diet will change from fresh picked locally grown salads to stews of acorn-fed free-range pork and locally grown winter veg. \ And that's how the vast majority of people eat here. So believe what the hell you like about your supermarkets, I hope they all close down or THIS way of life - eating propper food - will go the way it has in the UK. Total sh!t process rubbish. In a million varieties to make you happy...
