ITS NOT UP TO THE UK or America to tell the people of Afghanistan how to run their country. Its NOT like our model of society is going well is it?? Maybe they don't want Starbucks, crushing housing prices and zero-hour contracts. We are NOT the arbiters of what is "correct" and "good" - people value what their culture teaches them to value. Let the Afghan people run their country SOVEREIGNTY remember...!

A TALIBAN SPOKESMAN SAID "We are patient people, we knew the Americans would leave eventually, we took the time to train and prepare" And it's OBVIOUS they did exactly that. So let's say we go back in for another 10 years - the day we leave the Taliban take over EVEN MORE effectively than they did this time.

I lived with the Roma Gypsies for 2 years in Bulgaria. The government are always trying to get them to "integrate" i.e. live like westerners. It always fails. Why? Cos the Gypsied DONT WANT TO LIVE LIKE WESTERNERS. They want to live like Gypsies. They want to have 8 kids and live with their kids and scrat through garbage cans for scrap metal and party every night in the street with home made beer and wine. Going to work in and office for 8 hours a day and LEAVING your kids at a day care centre - they consider that child abuse... The Bulgarian Gypsies are some of the happiest people I have ever known. Different culture. Your culture, your values are super-specific to your geographical location and location in time. They DONT travel.

@Conclusius68 The border between Afghanistan and Pakistan was drawn by westerners. Pakistan is a WESTERN invention created on the 14 August 1947, intended to keep the people of the region busy fighting each other after the British pulled out of India. The British extracted £45 Trillion in wealth from the region and left it destitute... If the people of India want to come to the aid of the people of Afghanistan like the British did with their neighbours in WW2 - FINE. But western involvement is this entire region has been a TOTAL DISASTER for 200 years...

@Conclusius68 - I don't understand the point you are trying to make as it looks like a double negative to me. But... I have lived all over the world with many people of many cultures and I can tell you what they want MOST OF ALL - is to be left alone. They don't WANT American interference, they don't want democracy "exported" to them.

@Conclusius68 - I absolutely agree. 100%. I would go further, we have created a generation with different values by our occupation and propaganda that will be unhappy under the Taliban, WE created those people and the west should take anyone who wants to leave...
