@ToothbrushMan - It makes TOTAL sense. Putin stays in power in his own country by appearing to be the strong man who stands up for the Russian people against western imperialism. The second that image is gone - he is deposed and then he will be killed or imprisoned. BTW - I live in the former USSR, Putin is very respected here, even by those that do not like him. IF the west create a massive fuss over Ukraine and then Putin backs down or does NOT invade them he looks to have CAPITULATED to the west in the eyes of the Russian people ALL this talk any hype is forcing Putin's hand. I have friends in Ukraine and in Crimea - THAT are p!ssed at the west for backing Putin into a corner on this. Putin was NEVER going to invade in spring - cos the EU relies on Russia for 30% of its gas in winter. If Putin were to invade by choice it would be in winter. There is an argument to be made that the west in forcing Putin to invade early when he is not fully ready and the EU had 8 months to sort out the gas supply situation...!?!?!? But 100% the west is pushing Putin to invade NOW. Either cos they want a distraction from failed domestic policy OR to make him do it early when he has the least power.

@lolazal1 - well there is one undeniable fact - America only ended a war 6 months ago, for the previous 20 YEARS the UK military-industrial complex were profiting off that and despite NOT being at war for the first time in 20 years Biden just approved and INCREASE in military spending the military didn't even ask for - "here have more money" America has been at near-constant war since WW2

He was manoeuvring his own troops on his own land - America manoeuvres its troops on the literal border of North Korea - thousands of miles away from its own land. It manoeuvres its navy next to Taiwan and in the Black Sea - WHY...??? You don't consider THIS provocative but you DO consider Putin manoeuvring his own troops on his own land provocative. @mariogmajner6549 - The problem with Corbyn is he has morals and ethics and principles and he was not prepared to compromise them to get elected. So he didn't get elected. Starmer is NOT making the same mistake - he has no principles. He has broken almost every promise he made to get elected leader of the party. Upon a time I would have hated him for it and never voted for him - Im less principled not and more pragmatic. People are more willing to believe a lie than an uncomfortable truth and if you want to change anything - you first have to be in power. Ergo you have to lie your way into power. it disgusts me - but that is the truth of it. Corbyn will go down in history as the best prime minister the UK never had as Bernie Sanders will go down as the best President the USA never had, or maybe Al Gore is a better fit - IDK.

@ToothbrushMan - what does winter in Ukraine have to do with it dumb dumb??? I live next door to Ukraine - its 9ºC in Kyiv right now and 16ºC where I am. What matter is winter in the EU. I can 100% guarantee you Putin will make a move on Donbas and Lychev [sp???] - he has to. No way can he keep face at home and not do SOMETHING. He has been forced into it by the west. If HE does NOTHING he loses power and he will be killed or imprisoned by his rivals. So mark my words. He will move into these regions. HE is trying to stay in power the same way Bodger johnson is trying to stay in power in the UK. Putin has his own "ERG" that he has to placate and keep on his side and JUST like Johnson, its the hard man image that keeps him in power. EXAMPLE - how long would johnsons last if he gave into the EU, and agreed to all the border checks in NI and agreed to let EU goods into the UK with no checks and agreed to EU standards...???? NOT 1 DAY...!!! So Bojo bangs on about article 16 and all that to keep the ERG happy and keep him in his job and Putin HAS to equally keep the nutters in his govt happy and stand up to the west. 100% the WEST has created this conflict and 100% Putin WILL take Donbas and Lychev under the guise of "peacekeeping" - he has NO ALTERNATIVE cos the west gave him no alternative. UNLIKE the EU that was incredibly diplomatic and did NOT force Bojo to use Article 16 to stay in power. SEE....???

SOMETHING WE ALL NEED TO BE AWARE OF Its easy to be wound up by the media and think that its the end of Ukraine if Russia invades....!!! OMG THE HORROR I have a friend in Sevastopol Crimea. Before Russia invaded she ran an estate agents, she now runs a beauty spa. LIFE HAS BEARLY CHANGED FOR MOST PEOPLE They have different money, different passports, some have different jobs, but life under one govt is pretty much the same as life under another govt for the average person >>> Any bloodshed is the leaders of one country sending the people of that country to shoot at the people of another country sent by the leader of THAT country - usually with the lies that its the end of civilisation and the sun will go out if they don't fight. In reality - if Russia invades and Ukrain fights, the deaths are for nothing - cos they won't win. The country WILL be Russian if Putin wants it. And 5 years from now the people will just be living their lives like they were before. This has nothing to do with the people of Ukraine, its a distraction for the west and imperialism from Putin and it won't even really affect the people except the ones sent to die needlessly.
