MY UNCLE IS A FARMER OF 450 ACRES he lives in a MASSIVE 6 bed house, he has about 10 cars, he sold his old barns for development for £550k... £550k wasn't enough to get him to retire at 70+ why on earth would £50k swing the deal?? Is it that the alternative is bankruptcy post Brexit???

@pf844 - Actually he has an amazing car collection and he has HAD some of the cars the best cars ever made, many Lancias the Top Gear guys would drool over. But the reason he won't retire is his son is a moron and I think this is the same with a lot of farmers in the UK. Their kids grew up in the 90's with "modern parenting" and no disciplining. Not many of them want to be up at 5.30am and in a tractor for 15 hours, so they kinda stuck endlessly working - the outgoings of a place like his are astronomical. I think the heating bill is like £3k a month in winter. Id sell the bloody lot and retire - but its not been in my family for X generations has it...
