@andrewrobinson2565 - OH - let me tell you this - you will LOVE this. I honestly thought this was BS when I heard it. The new thing here in Bulgaria is British workers on temporary work visas working in the rice paddy fields. I thought WHAT?? THATS BS, so I google'd it and YEP, Bulgaria has a rapidly growing rice farming industry and it is recruiting workers from the UK and Turkey!!! BREXIT - where the British work in Bulgarian rice paddies... OMG - you cant make it up can you???

@andrewrobinson2565 - Along with the 50,000 nurses that the UK no longer has, cos they all left - like they were shouted at to do...

@athletemusician8098 - But working in paddy fields - could it be any more emblematic of the state of the UK today???

IM ABOUT TO OPEN A SMALL COMPANY over here in mainland Europe, Im British BTW. We will be making bespoke historical men's clothing 1900 to 1920 mostly. We are NOT EVEN CONSIDERING selling to the UK market, its just not worth the hassle. The USA is worth the hassle cos of the size of the market, the EU is zero hassle. The UK is a small market with mostly [now] broke people and a nightmare of bureaucracy and delays.

@lvoldum - I found it on an paper about the Bulgarian rice industry having tripled in size int he last 5 years. It was not a news article but an industry information PDF. TBH - I was astonished they have a rice industry here, Ive lived here 12 years and I never knew that...

@TorianTammas - Its almost like they are thinking of ways to make this even more humiliating isn't it???

@andrewrobinson2565 - Ive worked it out - they want British people cos they are so used to being bent over from all the bowing and scraping they do to the aristocracy and Tory overlords!!! The British have pre bent backs. Either that or they are adapted to living in damp conditions LOL

@athletemusician8098 - My friend - who is involved - owns a historical clothing pattern company so we have data on what people are interested in and where. The entire far east is a difficult market and China buy your stuff, copy it for pennies and sell it back to your own markets using your photography and descriptions. So there is a big BIG argument for staying as far away from the Chinese market as possible.

@antaryjczyk - The guy that told me is an alcoholic and I was like "WTF are you gibbering about now" - but turns out he was talking fact LOL

@peterebel7899 - THATS funny - you mean for Jacob Rees-Mogg LOL.

@baronvonlimbourgh1716 - I wish I had, we are just making the clothes up for photographing at the moment. If you are familiar with the Jeeves and Wooster series - that is basically what we are offering. My friend has invested in bespoke pattern software so if you were to give me your measurements and posture details and a style you want she can send me a bespoke pattern. I can make it in the fabric of your choice. And if it scales up in business Bulgaria and our neighbour Romania are packed full of very skilled seamstresses, there are 2 within 500 yards of my apartment. We would be estimating €200 + fabric for trousers €500 + Fabric for 2 piece suit and €600 + fabric for 3 piece suit.

@baronvonlimbourgh1716 - The quality is bespoke hand made, no production line, one person making the garment from start to finish. so whilst I would not say its Saville Row quality, its very high quality. Its the quality you would get from a tailor in 1910. No glue on interfacing, no synthetic fabrics, its a hand made suit. Overcoats, my friend want to start with coats and build from there, I want to start with trousers and build from there. So that's a point of discussion at the moment. We are not "doing it for the money" in that we both have separate incomes [I'm an author]. But you get to a point where for your bobby / interest to continue you need to make things for other people cos you simply have no more room for clothes for yourself.

@baronvonlimbourgh1716 - Cheers..!

@eventusiast - I cant believe it. But apparently, it is true - OK. I don't know that it is true for sure they are working there, my alcoholic friend said he was working in the rice fields with English people - he is not the most reliable person! And I saw a PDF on agriculture saying they were recruiting in Turkey and the UK. If any British people are actually in the fields working - I don't know. Do you plan on returning to Bulgaria any time soon?
