LETS ALL HOPE we don't need any of the lovely French Electricity this winter - I think we can whistle for that...

THE FRENCH WILL VETO any attempt to rejoin the EU or customs union over the submarine insult - they are the one nation that puts pride over pragmatism... Maybe this is why BOJO did it...???

@redstomp9664 - Not really - I'm in the EU and my electricity went DOWN 0.5p yesterday. I know you want to believe that this is a global thing - and mostly there are price rises - but no one but the UK has a CRISIS. You see - the EU has a minimum of 35.6 TIMES the per capita gas reserve that the UK has. the UK used to pay the EU to hold its gas reserve - they lost access to that with Brexit and never created a domestic reserve. ONLY the UK has a CRISIS.

@chubbymoth5810 - WELL - its a submarine cable... Maybe it should be charged at submarine prices??

@marresjepie1887 £45 Trillion Britain extracted out of India - probably best if we don't mention the Empire.

@rollosinternet1853 - I would say Brexit was more bout putting racism over pragmatism... Yeah maybe I could have worded it better. LOVE the "Dont be a Borris" I think that is excellent advice.

@BENTWOONEZERO - Hello crack pot Ben - its always good to see on a morning spouting your xenophobic nonsense...

@vanyadolly - well if I am honest - people ARE soft today [not a comment on this woman you mention] But when we were kids in the 70's in winter you put the plug in the sink on a night cos the drip would freeze and the sink would be blocked in the morning. There was ice on the inside of our bedroom windows on a morning. At 18 - so 1988 - my Gf had long hair and it used to get frozen into the ice on her bedroom window on a night. I no longer heat my apartment except on the very very coldest of days - I just wear wool trousers and a wool jumper or two. It has to get to about 12ºC in my apartment before I put the heating on. If you are old or sick its a different matter - but people definitely need to learn to use less heating, for every reason. Why did I stop using heating - its been proven to be better for your immune system. Lower temperatures stimulate your immune system, likely cos there are more viruses about in cold weather so its better not to have the summer immune system in winter.

@vanyadolly - Cold and damp are two different things. I dont live in the UK any longer, here in Bulgaria when its cold its 30% humidity, if it drops below about -20C then the humidity drops to zero as all the moisture freezes out of the air. It took me about 5 years to acclimatise to this - I had to put wet towels on the radiators at night to be able to sleep. The reason you were so cold in the UK is you are adjusted for the very dry cold - not the dripping wet cold they have in the UK. If I went there now I would be the same. BTW - warm and comfortable is relative, you adjust. I AM warm and comfortable at 15ºC in my apartment. Its 18 now and I have a short-sleeved shirt on.
