Im a Brit in the EU, I want to move to Scotland - it would suit many aspects of my life - But Im not leaving the EU. so I am awaiting Scotland to gain independence and rejoin the EU before I move there.

@ecaeas4439 - We will see. If the Scots hold one any way - get a yes vote and then stop paying taxes or something the issue would have to be addressed...

@ecaeas4439 - Well we all know how binding advisory referendums can be...!!! I dont have an answer- its way too complicated for me to predict. But they can be bloody-minded the Scottish, I would never say never when it comes to Scottish independence. I think its more likely than not.

@vullings1968 - EXACTLY. Scotland formed a voluntary union - it was not subjugated like NI and Wales. It is governed by Westminster BY its own consent. Therefore it can withdraw that consent. this is the way I read the suituation.

@MelkorPT - I'm not an expert on Scottish history - but I'm suspecting the latter... They also cleared all the peasants of the land so the English aristocrats could go shooting pheasants etc... cos aristos are nice like that.

@ecaeas4439 - But Scotland is only governed by Westminster with its consent. this is the issue. it was a merger, not a takeover. It has the right to withdraw that consent. NI and Wales dont, but Scotland does.

@ecaeas4439 - Yeah, I mean lets be real, Westminster represent the southeast and the home counties and that's IT.

@timothyharris4708 - As I said I am not an expert on Scottish history - I do want to learn more about the "runrig" farming practices as it happens - but I am aware the Scottish aristocracy turfed the peasants off to put sheep on. I was more highlighting that some of them literally turfed peasants off for NO OTHER purpose than the English wanted to go shooting on a weekend. Which I consider the greater crime if you like.
