HERE IN BULGARIA we suddenly have LOTS of nurses all of a sudden, don't know where they have all come from but they all speak really good English...

@jimjones6866 Well the NHS is now short of 50,000 nurses so by your logic they pay must have gone through the ROOF!!! GREAT OH - wait - they got a 1% pay rise?? But there is a shortage!! How can this be??? Is it that nurses pay is NOT linked to the shortage or surplus of nurses and is actually linked to hoe little the UK government can get away with paying them?? There is no link between nurses from places like Bulgaria and the low pay of the UK nurses. The far right would like you to believe there is, but there is not.

@villakaty2206 Nurses and teachers here have been given MASSIVE pay rises to better reflect their worth to society. An average nurse gets 2,650 Leva a month - to put that in perspective I live on about 1,200 a month quite comfortably. My rent on a sea front apartment is 250 leva a month. Starting salary is now 1,250 leva a month. Senior nurses get 4,040. That is a LOT of money here, you can have a very very nice life as a family of 4 on one 4k sallary.

@jimjones6866 - No its not why nurses were paid so little. Why do you believe such nonsense?

@jimjones6866 - OK you are unable to separate correlation from causation so this discussion is over. Have a nice day. Quote: "trade unions" & "They get paid well!!" - TRY AND WORK OUT THE CONNECTION.

@kfhroe8262 - Fair point!

@michaelmayo3127 - as a function of the cost of living in Denmark it is probably about the same as they are paid here. Here you can rent a luxury sea front 5 bedroom villa with a pool for 1000 - 1500 leva a month. I buy top quality locally grown meat, vegetables and dairy products and it costs me 10 leva a day. I have to say - 10 years ago they were paid VERY badly here. Their salary has gone up something like 300%, the same with teachers.

@michaelmayo3127 - I was only trying to give some context as to the cost of living here at the moment. The local produce here is as good as ever, but the thing that upsets me is American food companies are buying out all the Bulgarian food companies and filling everything full of sugar! When I moved here 12 years ago basically no one was fat. Now 30% of the population are fat - thanks to these American food companies. I specifically notice as I have damage to my pancreas so I have to be very careful with sugar and avoid it.

@michaelmayo3127 - I lived in France - the healthcare is astonishingly good. The hospitals were like space ships - although they did tend to be located in the middle of fields. But if they were not bizarre and weird they would not be French I guess...

Karl Zaraiva - I kinda guessed as much. It is astonishingly easy to hoodwink these people by telling them exactly what they want to hear... 90% of scientists voted to remain in the EU. Scientists go with the data regardless of what their desires or beliefs are - the data dictates the answer. Shal we assume they looked at the data for Brexit, shall we assume 90% of them voted to remain based on the assessment of the data? I don't think that is too hard a leap to make to think that any reasonable and dispassionate analysis of the data showed a 90% positive case for remaining

Karl Zaraiva - Im not a scientist yet I made incredibly accurate predictions about what Brexit would be like - Id say 95% accurate. So YEAH, must have been presst bloody obvious...
