IVE BEEN LEARNING* proper debating techniques this week and its really interesting cos one of the first lessons is "ignore idiotic arguments, insults, lies etc" They are usually diversionary tactics to trap you into pointlessly debating trivia. I thought "OH that's why Starmer completely ignores the lies of Bojo and Sunak" You debate the intent of the argument and NOT the points of the argument unless they are truly relevant to the intent of the argument [apparantly]
