@wayne00k - YEP - its started to happen - one company in the north - an American private equity company - is buying up entire farms, making them into one large field and then subcontracting the work out to companies with MASSIVE equipment. They demolish the farm building and get planning for luxury development. It happened to a farm near my sister, and it has almost destroyed the village and thats not a NIMBY thing. Pulling out the hedgerows for the extra land and economy meant the land flooded so they put in plastic drainage pipes and that flooded the village and showered away the road, the council had to put in a culvert but now instead of a small pond on my sisters land the entire area of small fields that people have their horses and ponies on just floods every time it rains. You cant complain cos there is not even a UK address for the company...

@rubbercable - YEP - and they finally get to properly market their stunning countryside to tourism, instead of the half hearted thing now that is a token gesture cos every holiday maker in Scotland is money NOT being spent in Londen as they see it at the moment...
