MY SISTER HAS TO SHOP for our slightly batty father who simply CAN NOT COPE with his food not being what he ordered - she had 4 hours yesterday explaining the wrong size tomatoes.

@hmq9052 - I was on facetime with her yesterday - he came in every 10 minutes of the hour-long call to talk about the wrong size tomatoes - I kid you not. I have told my sister - if there is any inheritance she gets all of it cos she has put up with 25 years of this and she damn well deserves it. He lives next door so she cant get away.

THE TALIBAN should be put in charge of food distribution - they seem very good at logistics, amazing actually. Give then a fleet of a million Toyota pickups and we would be sorted.

@justmythought7658 - He can't cope with deviations to his schedule or changes to his shopping list. In theory, there is nothing wrong with him, in practice, he is hell to live with.

@hmq9052 - OH - you dont know that half of it - this is the story of the Christmas Ham... Mother used to cook every Christmas. Adn she used to bake a full ham and this was fathers favourite... So being nice, first Christmas she was gone, my sister bought a ham and cooked it... BUT it was NOT how mother used to cook it so he was in a mood all Christmas cos she screwed up the ham. Ruined everyone's Christmas... So next year she tried a different recipe - WRONG. The problem is - he never lifted a finger to help with any cooking so he had NO IDEA how this ham was cooked - only THIS was not it... So like 9 YEARS of different ham recipes and 9 YEARS of ruined Christmases later over this bloody ham and my sister is at this point needing diazepam to cook the f-king thing and this is NOT a joke. In the end clint - her husband - pulled the built in oven out, threw it in the pickup and took it to the tip - said to my father "Cant cook a ham this year Denis - no oven!!!" And that's it - they have not had an oven for 6 years

@hmq9052 - He probably could - he is very good at sorting the issues out. But he was out yesterday. clint would have just said "you either take the tomatoes Denis or I'm throwing them in the garden and you can do without"

IF BREXIT WAS A 15 YEAR PLAN to become a self-sufficient nation, not importing crap from around the globe - I would have voted for it in a second...!!! @ai-d3982 - I have not got time to go into it. But my sister used to work setting the agricultural standards for the EU. The UK gaming industry does what the EU used to subsidise - even the landscape is a result of the CAP. You can immediately change the entire farming structure and the level of sustainability by changing what you subsidise and mostly by stopping the practice of selling "futures" i.e. STOPPING foods being traded on the stock market as commodities. THAT is what causes the idiotic international trade of food. You ship grain to America cos of a commodity transaction whilst grain FROM America is going to the UK cos of a DIFFERENT commodity transaction. It is UTTERLY idiotic - all for guys in suits to make ££££ for billionaires. The UK COULD be something like 88% self sufficient - if it wanted to be - but it does NOT cos rich people are making £££
