IN 1995 IS WAS ON £27K - IN 2005 I WAS ON £65K Thats what Labour did for me - a kid who went to School in a black bin bag too poor to afford a coat due to the Tories. Labour gave me the opportunity of a good life, the Tories ensured I had a deprived childhood, but Labour gave me a life. And now the Tories are ensuring another generation of deprived children.

@SuzanneO707 My point is - and maybe I should edit the post - I went to Batly High School in a black bin bag too poor to afford a coat due to the Tories. Labour gave me the opportunity of a good life, the Tories ensured I had a deprived childhood, but Labour gave me a life.

@SuzanneO707 I read a brilliant speech By Xi Jinping about a month ago where he was telling the Billionaires in China they were going to have to pay a LOT more tax, effectively the deal is - to give most of their wealth to the community or we will take it in taxes. He said [paraphrasing]: "No one is a self made billionaire, you made it to the top of the pyramid but you would not be there without the midwife who birthed you, the school teacher who inspired you, the hospital that treated you when you fell ill, the roads you drive on to your business meetings, the air traffic control that ensures your jet flies safely, you are a product of the society you live in and you need to give back to that society an appropriate recognition of your great fortune in life..." FYI - I now live a very minimalist life in Bulgaria, but that is my choice, a choice the Tories have taken away from everyone in the UK...

@seang2700 NO ONE does it "all by themselves" - you live in a society, in an economy, in a built environment, all of these things combine to allow the individual to flourish or to stifle that individual. Labour created the society and economy for me to flourish in, sure I worked 10 hours a day very hard, but my basic salary was £32K the rest was commission and the company provided the furniture and AV equipment for company boardrooms, so it was the booming economy and so much investment in new buildings in the North of England that allowed me to earn that much money. Thats why the job would pay so much less now - no one to by the things you sell...

@geraldhewing2076 - Maybe If I had gone to a private school like the rich Toris I would know this, but I went to an unbelievably sh!tty comprehensive under the Thatcher government with scaffold holding the classroom roofs up, where we used to have to abandon certain classrooms if it rained cos they leaked, where one of the stairwell's literally collapsed and just got roped off and left cos they had no money to fix it. Yeah you see - no one cared about the North in the tory misery times. No one cared about the kids, we were quite literally taught how to fill out an unemployment benefits form but never a job application form, cos there were no jobs.

@audreymcgready4329 NO MATE tory voters are what put 50% of the workforce in my area out of jobs, you live in a delusional fantasy world.

@seang2700 "Labour created the society and economy for me to flourish in, sure I worked 10 hours a day..." those were my words, why are you trying to twist them...???

@seang2700 "Society is just a context in which we live". Society is not JUST the context in which we live - it is THE context in which we live. Try making it as a 20 year old in today's society when rent is 60% of your salary, a house is 14 X your salary, when the economy is destroyed by Brexit, when you have been locked inside for 2 years, when the NHS is destroyed so if you have a medical issue it won't get treated. " I'm trying to praise you here". Thanks - I appreciate that, But I know how hard I worked and I know I worked harder than most people in society by a long way, but I also know that you can only make a success of the opportunities society provides you with and in the early 2000's the society Labour had created presented me with one opportunity after another. Opportunities that are simply NOT available to the kids of today. "To rescue from a vicious political lie" Im now an author on psychology and the collapse of civilisations, the vicious political lie is that you have anything but the tiniest control over your life, In 2014 I was worth €6 million cos my company had randomly gone viral, in September I suffered brain damage in a mugging and 18 months later I was bankrupt and homeless... Its basically all just luck - success is having the dedication [and money] to keep going until you get lucky and the chances of getting lucky are greatly improved if you live in the right society...
