  1. TRUE STORY I bought a pencil sharpener today - it worked, I was genuinely over the moon. I bought a thing and it did the thing it was supposed to do - I was totally expecting it to just mangle the pencil... THIS is the society we now live in, one where a functioning pencil sharpener is a total shock.

  4. @Expo Scotland " A lot of people don't realise malware etc." Thats one of the reason I use an iMac - not immune but a significantly smaller problem. And I usually upgrade the SDD ever couple of years - fully enough yesterday I put in a 1Tb SSD and another 24Gb RAM so it has a clean operating system in it. MY OP said 500gb and obviously I mean Mb. " 30mbps but in reality I was getting download speeds about 17-20 most of the time" That is just unbelievably slow. I have 500Mb but TBH its lower than that cos I never ever ever use more than like 150Mb and they steal it back off you if you dont use it. 184Mbps at the moment according to Ookla. I could complain but what's the point? Weirdly my upload speed is way higher than my download speed...?

  5. @Expo Scotland - I use iMac because I am a user and not in any way a tech person. I want it to work, first time every time and I dont want to have to know anything to make it work, and because - so far - each iMac has lasted me 10 years. I am worried that they are getting less upgradeable and more glued together like the iPhone. If they ever stop you from adding memory, it will be the last I buy. My current one is quite new - about 18 months old. I upgraded it cos I have started an online course and I need to record about 100 hours of HD Video.
