WHAT WOULD BE THE INTELLIGENT THING TO HAVE DONE OVER THE LAST 20 EYARS...??? Build a "world beating" renewables manufacturing base in the UK - YES What did we do? NOTHING. What will we do now - MAKE TORY DONORS RICH OF COURSE

@BENTWOONEZERO - FKING AMAZING - we have vast amounts of solar and nuclear - we are a net exporter of electricity and we are a socialist country so I GOT A REBATE ON MY ELECTRICITY in January. They paid ME more than my electricity bill. And almost every house here has solar water heater on the roof, so that does not factor into the electricity but it should cos that stops people using the electric grid for hot water and most new builds have solar heat storage systems for heating in winter. EDIT - we get over 300 days of sunshine a year here. We do sadly still use coal, but that it mostly to supply the export market.

@edwardbrady5843 - Didny you know - the Uk is "world beating" or "leading the world" in literally everything... Its at the point where it makes me want to puke actually. Its like the American's use of the word "freedom" - when you are constantly using it, you are trying to convince people of an untruth...

I'm guessing YOU don't live NEAR a facking site - I simply LOVE people who approve of things that don't impact them in any way, selfish s(um I call them.

@davidpalos1949 - What I truly hate about these people is the coded language QUOTE "but lefties don't care about that one when they want to let the world in..." what he means is "I hate immigrants" but he is too cowardly and weak to say it. Occasionally I have had racists in America straight up say "I don't like X people" and I admire them for their honesty. I disagree with them but at least they are not cowardly POS like Marcus here using coded language to disguise their racism.

@marcusbradley2382 - GOOD - I hope hundreds of Somali refugees come and live on your street...!!!

@marcusbradley2382 - GOOD. But they are only going to make you feel bad cos you are a RACIST POS. They are NOT going to damage the health of your kids like Fraking does... So its not the same is it???

@BENTWOONEZERO - Ben you drive me to distraction. Wood is made from trees and trees grow by sucking in CO2 from the atmosphere - its a cycle. Its carbon-neutral to carbon negative as the roots and leaves etc stay in the ground and sequester carbon. so burning wood is CO2 negative. And I dont know what figures you are looking at - but 80% of people in Bulgaria use public transport. Car ownership among adults is 39.6% and its going down - the peak was 44.3% in 2016. But our public transport is so good people don't use cars for local trips. My neighbour has a new Range Rover sport and she gets the bus to work. And those bussed are 50% electric trolly busses and 20% battery-electric busses and the rest diesel. Car ownership in the UK is 77% of households and 81% of the adult population. there is no way on gods green earth the average Brit generates more CO2 than the average Bulgarian.

@BENTWOONEZERO -My tiny city in Bulgaria has taken more so far than the whole of the UK - at least we can agree on this... A place called St Vas has a population of 5,000 - they have taken in 120 so far. 1,000 for the Uk it utterly disgusting.
2
@BENTWOONEZERO - Yeah only its not as I said 99% of houses use solar water heaters and 35% use solar storage heating for winter - this does not get counted in the % figure. per capita, electricity usage for a Bulgarian is 4600kwh. for the UK it is about 6,600kwh - that 44% difference is the locally used solar. As I said - our solar usage is utterly VAST. Add to that that we dont have any natural gas so 100% of heating is from either electricity or wood, most people use wood, they farm woodland here for heating wood - and wood is renewable you have to add the UK's gas into the mix and 100% of the UK gas supply is NOT renewable. So a better score would be to look at the CO2 "footprint" per capita - this is about 10 tons per UK resident and about 5.5 tones per Bulgarian. SO YEAH - we are vastly more sustainable than you. This is why its important to be able to analyse statistics and see what is really behind them... We produce 133% of our electricity needs - so we export 33% and that 33% comes from coal. You see you are looking at the "generation" figures. Our USAGE is 75% + renewables and nuclear and that brings our domestic CO2 production down - we sell the dirty energy to you guys. Because you IMPORT the energy it does not count in the UK figures either and this is how countries manipulate the CO2 figures and it SHOULD be stopped. Its the same wiht all the plastic crap you buy from China - YOU dump that CO2 generation onto China and then claim to be super green and blame China for their emissions - YOU BUY THE SH!T THEY MAKE, it should be YOUR CO2.

@BENTWOONEZERO no its not Ben - look at the right figures. NOT CO2 from energy consumption - total CO2 footprint. BUT - I will tip my hat if you try to buy as little as possible from China [though i suspect it may be more for xenophobic reasons than environmental] but YES that is good. If Brexit were a 20 year plan to decouple the UK from globalisation and become more frugal, environmentally friendly and self-sufficient; I would have voted for it. As it is it was just racism and idiocy. Burning wood is entirely sustainable - its how we lived for 10,000 years. Adn its not bad for the environment - but it IS bad for humans. Here on foggy days in winter, the air is terrible wiht the wood smoke - smells great but its really bad for your lungs. Here they dont use arable land, they manage the woodlands.

@BENTWOONEZERO - Ben I have no idea where you get your figures from - do you just make them up? Anyway - I'm off to the Red Cross now to help with Ukrainian Refugees so goodbye. Edit - have you taken the number per capita - you haven't you. You cant count children and OAP's. Ownership of adult working-age people, they are the only ones that regularly use cars.
