THE UK NOW HAS some of the lowest wages in the developed world...!!! What immigrant is going to jump through the hoops of the UK immigration system for a low wage.. The average salary for a Construction Worker [2023] is £28,300 gross per year The average construction worker gross salary in Germany is 42.913 € [£38k] People in the UK forget - their wages stopped going up in 2010, thats why you have no food, you cant afford it

@murrayscott3513 YEP - Australia · $72,794 per year - £41k - BUT the PPP comparison is 1.41X so thats like earning £57,800 in the sunshine OR working in the rain in the UK for £28k - LITERALLY more than double... Here in Bulgaria - the poorest country in the EU - a nurse earns up to £25k - but that £25k here will feed a family of 4 in a luxury 4 bedroomed villa with swimming pool

@DavidMoxham957 Poland passed the UK for the average standard of living in Dec 2022. Romania and Bulgaria are set to pass the UK in the next 5 years. Thats not £ for £ wealth but standard of living. BUT Poland is set to pass the UK £ for £ by 2030. Poland already has an "au pair" visa scheme for the UK cos wealthier Polish families want English speaking nannies for their kids... As you say "You just can't write this stuff!" you really really cant make this sh!t up. EDOT - I have no idea how people live on the wages in the UK now. In 2003 I was on £65k as a salesperson for a medium-sized company - but that would be £108,830 now according to the BoE inflation calculator - but I looked recently and the average wage for that job is now £48k and most of them are in London.

@jmolofsson - My sister is still in the UK - her mortgage is paid off on the house and the business in 2030 - her kid will be 21 - where do you think they are coming this summer to look for houses...??? They are getting their things sorted to give them the strength to keep going, and the option to get it if things get really bad...
