I USED TO BUY BUTTONS off a company in the UK* Delivery has gone from £12 for 1kg to £46 for 1 kg... I am now buying them from a company here in Bulgaria... * I make historical clothing - that's why I buy real horn buttons

@torehaaland6921 - sorry no. Everyone wants me to turn it into a business, I get asked all the time to make things for people. But its my hobby, its what I do to relax. If I do it as a business it will become a stress and not a pleasure. I make men's clothing 1900 to 1930 - so "Peaky Blinders" era of clothing. High waist trousers, waist coats, shirts with detachable collars, overcoats that sort of thing. I want to master suit jackets, to do them traditionally is a LOT to learn - there is about 90 hours work in a traditional suit jacket...

@joansparky4439 - Its funny - The Tic Tok Teenagers are REALLY big into hands-on crafts like crocheting, knitting, sewing, etc. They have transcended technology in a way. To my generation technology is marvelous - we are impressed with it. To a 14 year old its just a tool, like a screwdriver or a hammer or a pair of knitting needles. They are not impressed with technology for technologies sake so they are rediscovering the joy of making things - the technology of a smartphone is the tool they abuse to show the world what they have made... They are also rediscovering traditions and folk history, sea shanties became very popular - you may have seen that. My actual job is helping people recover from serious abuse and one of the things I get them to do is to take up a tactile hobby where you CREATE something with your hands - cos this is a very VERY basic human need that we all have. The oldest artefacts we have created by humanity are sculptures, carvings and pictures. Capitalism tells us that people are inherently lazy and need to be forced to do things. This is not true. Ill depressed people are lazy, sadly 60% of society is ill or depressed of both - usually from the effects of capitalism... Happy healthy people are naturally very industrious and creative with no outside input or pressure... So a world where robots do everything will be a very busy one for humans...

@raymonddixon7603 - A lot these days, the cost of real horn and shell buttons is quite high.

@stephanguitar9778 - No of course not. Even if the price of delivery comes down in the future I will have a relationship with the new supplier. That wont change until and unless something goes wrong. Now my 1kg of buttens every 2 months is not make or break for the UK economy, but as you say - that will be being replicated over literally tens if not hundreds of thousands of people and businesses...

@joansparky4439 - please dont be pointlessly pedantic. It is obvious I don't mean capitalism the system says this but the proponents of the capitalist system and the corporations it contains etc etc, but this is a youtube comments section now a book - brevity is required. Also under capitalism, you don't get to keep the output of your own hands work, the owner of the means of production does.

@stephanguitar9778 - this is a very good point - there is zero need for house prices to be so high. Simply make land available for building and they will plummet. But that would piss off the people who own all the property so governments never do that. I live in Bulgaria now, I work part time and rent a beach front apartment - it is 24% of my monthly salary. Why? cos there is a housing glut. Why - communism. They just made as much land available for housing as was needed to supply demand. 85% of people here own their own home with no mortgage. AND most families own a village house for the weekends as well. Also - our cities are 40% green space - cos that's nice and land is NOT mega bucks£££ - And all the cities are planted with thousands of fruit trees - cos that gives free food to the population every year... This communism thing - not as bad as it was made out to us in the west, that's for sure. A recent survey here 45% of the population want to return to communism.

@joansparky4439 - You remember that I said I used the term "capitalism" as a catch all for the sake of brevity in youtube comments - this is why.
