PEOPLE ARE NOT PROTESTING because they have been conditioned to expect nothing but misery and privation... Im sorry - but the lockdowns have played a big part in this - people have got used to suffering in silence, not getting what they expect, living with privation. The pandemic was the biggest godsend this government could ever have hoped for...

Revolutions happen when three things come together 1) the ruling class get so hideously out of touch their every action is unwittingly cruel and self-serving, meaning the conditions of the working person are simply hideously deprived with NO HOPE of ever improving - Brexit, NI increase, Cost of living crisis 2) a new generation arrives that does not have the deference of the previous ones, has access to modern communication systems that the ruling class simply does not understand how to use - Gen Z 3) A massive - usually global event - a world war or a pandemic Just saying

@Russ_Keith - OH - I 100% agree, it is a decades-long grinding down of the human spirit. I was merely saying the pandemic was the cherry on the top of the "creating a subservient population cake". Im 52 lectures in to a 97 lecture series on the Russian revolution - and I realised last week that Thatcher was not randomly evil, not pathologically obsessed with breaking up unions and privatising public services for profit - SHE WAS ENSURING THERE WULE NEVER BE A REVOLUTION IN BRITAIN. If you look at all the contributing factors to the Russian revolution - she was ensuring they did not exist. Even selling off the council houses. The peasants that had bought their land of the Lords - they sided with the Tsar. People who own property will side with the fascists over the revolutionaries. Selling off the railways and other national industries - you need to break up the national services and critical industries so they can never all go on strike at the same time. So this plan is a very long term plan of the tory party - to sap any and all resistance from the working people. 800 P&O workers sacked - that would have caused a national strike in 1980... The question is - just how long can it go on, cos we are now at the "literally starving" point of social collapse. And Boris johnson made a huge mistake - he allowed middle-class people to open their homes to refugees - for the first time since the miner's strike as one section of society looked after a worse of an oppressed section of society. THAT has reintroduced the idea of solidarity into peoples minds. I bet the old tories are furious wiht him - maybe thats why it takes 55 pages oif BS to get a visa in 3 weeks if you are lucky.

@Russ_Keith - I thought exactly the same until I started this program a month or so ago and realised that consciously or unconsciously, Thatcher had systematically done everything needed to prevent a revolution in the UK. And now we have starving people not protesting...
