I used to have a wood lathe with a 3/4hp motor, no way on gods green earth is a vacuum cleaner REALLY 1500 or 2500 watts UNLESS it is dissipating 50% of that as heat... I just looked up and a 2.5kw air compressor is a big V twin on triple cylinder.
