HERE IS A PRIVATISATION STORY FOR YOU the water companies used to employ guys with picks and spaids to walk all over the hills and moors to dig out and maintain the water gullies These captured the rain, prevented flooding and filled the reservoirs. They sacked them all. So the gullies filled up with debris - no problem, clear them out with a JCB... Only it didn't work. And now these guys are all DEAD and NO ONE KNOWS what they used to do that DID work cos nobody talked to them cos they lived moors - THIS IS WHY WE HAVE FLOODS AND DROUGHTS. And as of today, no one has been able to figure out what these guys did that captures the rain so efficiently and prevented flooding, cos digging gullies does not do it??? Did they plant heather i the gullies, over the gullies, under the gullies, 2 feet up from the gullies, was it gourse? Did they put dead hether in the gullies, stones in the gullies, gullies in the gullies? The water companies have test sites all over the hills trying to work out what the guys did that they sacked cos they were a waste of money.
