YEP - even though I am very much anti-globalisation and the homogenization of every country to look the same with starbooks and Tesco, even though I would vote for the UK becoming more self sufficient. I am viciously anti Brexit on totally practical grounds - it COULD NEVER WORK. It was an idiotic fantasy in every respect - just the number of customs people needed, the expansion to ports that have nowhere to expend into, the trade negotiators we didnt have... etc etc

  5. MY SISTER WROTE the EU animal welfare standards for pigs - they were SPECIFICALLY written to protect the "UK Pig Industry" from vast amounts of Russian pork bankrupting the industry. In 2016 the vast majority of the UK's pig farmers voted FOR BREXIT cos they did not like the high animal welfare standards that added to their costs. They are now having to cull pigs and make massive losses. The problem is - people are thick, short-sighted and selfish. The company she worked for wrote MOST of the EU farming legislation, mostly in favour of BRITISH farms.
