SAMSUNG BRICKED MY SISTERS LEGIT PHONE in the UK - It was a nearly new Z fold and the screen failed - she took it for warranty repair and they said she has to pay £900 cos the case is dented, she asked to be shown where the case is dented, the report says "on the hinge" but there IS NO DENT. The guy in the shop just says "well that's what they say" They have locked her phone unless she pays the £900 so she refused and bought a second hand £200 phone but she cant transfer her data over - even the online back up will NOT allow her to sync the two phones, the one they have hosting for £900

  9.  @TremereTT  - So the sales they allow - who is being those??? For every sale there has to be a buyer - and its 100% collateral for the buying half of THAT sale... But they can cover that side OK. Only not YOUR side??? And you are NOT shorting, you are NOT a hedge fund, but they can not cover your side of it - only the sale side. How does that work??? They can cover ALL the buying of the small guys selling but NONE of the small guys bying. There is to say the least - a massive logical inconsistency here - if the shares could not be traded - YES, this would make sense. But to only allow selling - yeah, sales don't happen without a buyer - and that buyer was LIKELY to be a hedge fund shorting...

  10.  @Patrick-857  - Im very lucky - I moved to Bulgaria 14 years ago - its a mostly cash economy. But even if you can't switch to all cash - keep USING cash cos they really want to take it away as soon as possible and force everyone to use electronic cash.

  11.  @TremereTT  LET ME SUMMARISE THIS to buy a share your BROKER needed to put up 100% capital for the buy, to SELL they need to put up 0% The BIG guy's brokers HAD THE MONEY to cover the BUY's, but the SMALL guy's brokers DID NOT have the money - so YOU could only sell but the BIG guys could buy AND sell... Boo Hoo small guy - this just happened to massively BENEFIT the big guys and the hedge funds - cos OF COURSE... Am I getting this correct? The bit I was not initially getting was that some brokers had the collateral and could cover the buy's. That was the bit of the jigsaw I was missing. SO - its not actively screwing the little guy over, its passively screwing the little guy over and helping out the Hedge Funds purely as a nice happenstance - cos that is the way the world is structured...

IM A BESPOKE TAILOR of men's historical suits - DO NOT BUY ANYTHING LOUIS VUITTON - it is total crap, I mean REALLY crap. your local seamstress or leather worker will make yo uWAY higher quality for less, and obviously, a tailor will go even higher Ironically this guy could not use MODERN LV stuff as the materials are so cheap, they use fake leather, the quality is Chinese factory and NOT a good one.

  17. I researched cost of ownership of cars for a book I was writing. The best thing to do is to buy an unsophisticated, nearly new, very reliable car say a diesel Volkswagen. And run it until literally falls apart. Maintain it very very well, preferably at the main dealer as they will do preventative maintenance checks. The bottom line is the most cost-effective motoring is when you've paid for the car you're not making monthly payments anymore. You're just paying for service and fuel. And if you replace parts before they totally wear out, you won't even have breakdowns. People do amazing mental gymnastics to justify buying a new car. Oh it's unreliable it's cost me $3000 in repairs this year, I'll get a new car that costs me $600 a month. That's more than double what you paid and repairs...

  18.  @RandomUser2401  YES I'm going to have to throw it away after smashing it to pieces with a hammer, because the hard drive is an SSD that is soldered to the board, this is another problem. I used to just remove the HDD or SSD and keep them or destroy them. This gets to the OP's point. A perfectly functional computer will have to be destroyed as I can not remove the HDD/SSD and the nature of my work requires that.

  19.  @rossmanngroup  In 2014 I was quite wealthy and living in Bulgaria - we had CCTV in every room of the house [we had a security detail as well]. It was the MOST corrosive thing I have ever come across. I absolutely hated it. We started to use the CCTV footage to settle arguments, did you empty the dish washer? "YES" no you didn't - LOOK [shows footage] and this was an old fashioned wired system. If WE used to abuse our own system to spy on each other - Imagine what the police / govt / company are going to do...

  22. I DONT EVEN PAY AT THE SHOP HERE in Bulgaria - if you forget your wallet or you don't have enough cash [its a cash economy] you just pay next time. I owe them 6 leva €3 from yesterday. Its why I live here and not in my home country of the UK. I know every person within 1000m of my apartment, I know their dogs, their kids, I know who's car Ill have to help bump start on cold mornings. I go out on snowy mornings and clear the windshields of the people who have to leave early. They walk my dog when Im sick... I could never go back to the UK - I would be SO lonely

When the electrical connector broke on my 1929 tailors iron I bought a replacement for $2, 400m from my apartment in the little hardware store cos the USSR NEVER changed the connector on things that get hot. NOW, this does mean things have to LOOK old. But if your philosophy is easy repair this is a trade-off you have to make. They were NOT stupid, they had different VALUES.

  33. In 2014 I was worth €6 million. Then I suffered brain damage in a mugging and lost everything. Went from multiple luxury apartments to a tiny 1 bedroomed completely empty apartment in the very worst part of the city. I has 1 old chair, cooked on a hob on the floor, ate of the 1 cracked plate I had. At first, I was really embarrassed by my poverty, but slowly I started to LIKE the simplicity, the lack of clutter, the lack of technology. I now live a very tiny minimalist life, I actively try to get RID of the things in my life that creep in. I don't even have a refrigerator, I walk to the shop and buy food every meal. This life allows me to work about 2 hours a day, cos Im not paying for all the crap I dont need, the crap that was ultimately making me unhappy. It really is true, the things you own end up owning YOU...!!! The things you pay a service fee for monthly - 10 X so...!

  47. I have reverted to buying physical paper books. I also lost 1,800 Albumns that I had on CD, I owned them, I uploaded them to an iMac and then my storage was running low so I used "iTunes Match" whereby Apple allows you access to any CD you own at high definition, it matches your library. I used this for several years until I had financial problems and could not afford it. I resubscribed a year later and all my music was GONE. "OH you should have downloaded it before you stopped your subscription". If I had the space to download it I wouldn't of uploaded it in the first place. $30k of purchased CD music gone!!!
