  12. No, they don't, it's an illusion that they make your life easier, where I live in my country we don't have Amazon, but we have a very busy bustling High Street everywhere. Everything I want is available within 400 yards of my apartment. Including social interaction, with other human beings, the care about my existence. Which is why my country has the lowest level of mental health problems in Europe, and Europe has vastly lower than America. Amazon has spent billions convincing you that they make your life easier, they don't. They make your life, immeasurably worse, but you can't see it because you don't live the alternative life. Your alternative to Amazon is driving 45 minutes to a store that doesn't have the thing you want. That's not the alternative to Amazon.

OK HERE ARE SOME FACTS* 1) they said exactly the same about books in the 18th century 2) every generation thinks the current / next generation will be jelly 3) attention spans are becoming freakishly short 4) AHDH is MASSIVELY on the increase and kids are NOT growing out of it 5) iPads are NOT bad - its the TYPE of content you watch on them that matters 6) Gen Z is the most creative generation since the hippies 7 China strictly limits the amount of time children can spend on the internet. 8). We always overestimate the threat to kids - in the 80's it was "latch key kids" that would be the failing of society - but Gen X turned out super fine and resilient 9). The only truly useless generation in history is millennials - sorry guys just a fact 10) Gen Alpha are going to grow up in a VERY different world - is this not just preparing them for this world...??? *Im an author on psychology and the collapse of civilisations - its kinda my job to study this

THE GAMES ARE LITERALLY designed to be as addictive as possible - I think we could legislate against that practice It does NOT have to be addictive to be good or fun, they ADD the addictive elements TO the base game. They time the reward drops to keep you playing, they maximise the dopamine generation - all of this is ONTOP of the actual game. You don't need to add a fake reward every time the game senses you slowing down - which they 100% DO...!

  18. Im a Brit - I have travelled in 53 countries in my life and when I was choosing where to live the USA was 50th out of 53 - firmly in the ABSOLUTELY NOT category. Incidentally, I choose Bulgaria, that was 12 years ago and I have not regretted my decision at all.

We also have the lowest level of mental health problems in Europe, and I'm convinced these two things are directly connected. Going outside, and having interactions with other people, even if it's just a shopkeeper saying hello and asking how you are, is unbelievably important, тo your mental health.

But at least communism had the GOAL of making peoples lives better as its core principle. Capitalisms core principle is to make the owners of capital rich at the expense of the workers. I arrived here in Bulgaria 12 years ago as a foaming at the mouth business owing capitalist - it was exposure to the architecture and city planning where everything is designed FOR the people and talking to the people who actually lived it that moved me further and further towards accepting it was a better ideology. Even if it did fail in actuality. But its not like capitalism outlived it by long...

Ive set up 13 companies im ny life - I always did the thing that I found others didn't provide or was difficult - I could not do what you have done here, but it would make my life way simpler if I had kids ergo a lot of people would think the same. If I had kids id pay $300 for a child control router - especially if i could use my phone to disconnect a device. Dinner is ready - phone |"BING" child disconnected.
