@tylertyler82 - Actually NO that was America. H. came to power as a result of the 1929 economic crash in the USA. The American banks had bought up all the German banks after WW1 and then they nearly all closed down as the American banks went bust - utterly destroying the middle class in Germany. Germany had a massive communist party at the time and H positioned himself on the ticket of " the govt allowed the American banks to buy up German banks and go bust and all your savings have vanished and the communists are coming to take your house - vote for ME - only I can save you...!!!" I'm an author on the collapse of civilisations - this is my job.

@freddieclark - Dont get me wrong, Imm not blaming America for the collapse of the German economy - that had as much to do with the Kaiser wearing the wrong shoes on Queen victorias yacht at Cowes as it did the Americans. And the French obviously with the reparations. You lose a world war - its going to have repercussions. But the way American investors and American banks treated German people with no regard for the human cost was a huge factor in AH being able to rise to power. And the way American investors and American banks treated the AMERICAN people with no regard for the human cost in 2008/9, led to Trump in 2016
