The Labour party in the UK got rid of hereditary peers in the House of lords to make it more "representative". The Conservative party used that new power over the last 13 years to pack it with 300 Conservative peers bringing the number in total to a crazy 784... More than ALL your law makers put together - for a country with 68 million people...
