MY SUBCULTURE IS 1890 to 1930 men's historical clothing - which I make bespoke for myself and clients - patching, darning, repairing, peacing and life-extending is very much part of it A jacket I make should last the client 50 years of regular wear. It comes with spare fabric for patches, thread, buttons, and has enough "inlay" to allow you to put on 50lb in weight and have it let out to fit you. I leave 4" on the trousers in case your son has longer legs than you - YES - I expect a suit to last long enough for you to pass it on to your kids.

My sister in the UK is a millionaire, she is the most working-class person you could ever meet. She just happened to buy a house with land at the right time [1990] and started a small business. Her car is a 15 year old Kia.

AS A 53 YEAR OLD SEMI RETIRED GUY seriously listen to this girl - If I had someone to tell me this when I was 20 I would have retired at 40...!!! I wasted more money on cars alone than most people retire with in their pension LEARN TO LIVE ON LESS THAN YOU EARN - COS SPENDING IS INFINITE IN 2014 I was on €15k a month AFTER TAX and I was still paycheck to paycheck cos lifestyle expands infinitely to soak up the money

I literally had an assistant say to me "you cant afford it can you?" after she told me the shorts were €1600 and my face looked horrified. I calmly said "Actually I can, but you cant, you are a shop assistant on minimum wage"

@BarronVonU Thats how I got started - I made a flat cap that didn't fit. Then I made another and another and after making about 50 hats I thought "why dont I make something else???" Im just working on a pair of green tweed with yellow ever check 1920's trousers, I just sat down for a cup of tea. Its lovely vintage cloth but I have no idea the composition, I think it's rayon and wool...??? OH - I never go out of the house without a hat on :-D

ITS DIFFICULT TO TELL YOU how much different my life would have been if stuff like this channel was available in 1980...!!! In 30 years I wasted hundreds of thousands of £GBP on cars, luxury stuff and general crap I did not need - over 50 cars, lost money on every one. I finally wised up at 45

This was the first line of my comment above yours: I WORK IN THE HIGH-END FASHION INDUSTRY I make hand crafted bespoke historical suits that cost £5000 - this is my advice 1) Buy secondhand - If a garment is good enough to be sold after, it has been worn multiple times, it is high quality. ---§--- Also THANK YOU for not buying fast fashion

@javajav3004 - YEAH - dirt poor kids that make money make incredibly BAD decisions, and cars are one of the WORST. The only vehicles I ever made money on was a Mercedes minibus and a Lincoln Town car 30 foot limo that I drove from the UK to Bulgaria.

@javajav3004 - I live a very tiny, very minimalist and very happy life thank you :-D The stuff you own really does end up owning you as the saying goes.

You will thank yourself in 30 years trust me. My sister more than maxed out when she was about 22 cos despite being a very poor family she had a horse she bought with pocket money so she needed a house with land and stables - it cost her £85k in about 1990 - its now worth £750k and she has already sold of 4 bits of the land for building that total about £400k. She was at university when she bought this - her husband had to work like 4 extra shifts a week in the early days... My advice to you from my life as a high earner is don't buy expensive cars - I've had like 50 odd cars and probably wasted over £500k. But a reliable car and keep it for 25 years.
