I now live in Bulgaria where its very cold in winter and everyone is poor. this is my advice, go to a second-hand shop and buy WOOL - 100% WOOL trousers, jumpers, blankets, wool socks and never wear anything made of synthetic fibres again, only wear cotton next to your skin covered by wool and lots of wool. its -5ºC outside, my house is 14ºC and I have not put the heating on this winter. Wool is for keeping aminals warm, synthetics are plastic, they have zero insulation capabilities. I am toasty warm at 14ºC In fact id be taking a jumper off if I was not about to walk the dog.
