The tendency of capitalism is towards fascism. Just like the tendency of profit is towards zero and the tendency of competition is towards monopoly. Most European countries put in place measures to restrict the tendency, which also restricts economics and to some degree free speech. But it wont hold. Fascism is an inevitable outgrowth of capitalism and it needs to be CONSTANTLY fought.

@katarn999 Ok I will answer one by one. " lacks causality from my point of view. Proof please?" that would take a hundred thousand words "Did you study the history of e.g. Germany and Italy in the interwar years?" YES - I am an author on psychology and the collapse of civilisations "what caused them to follow Mussolini/Hitler in your view?" Super simple. IT WAS AMAZINGLY EXCITING AND OFFERED A WONDERFUL FUTURE do not make the mistake of thinking you would not have been a nazi - you very likely would. You have to remember - they DIDNT have the benefit of history as a warning - go watch the Neruunberg rallies and think of yourself as an 18-year-old German in a depressed country and THESE GUYS are offering you a future " It's a bit more complicated than what you stated, isn't it?" OF COURSE it is

@katarn999 But they want more money - so they start to eat the government and you get a $1 trillion defence budget that is 80% bigger than needed cos its not about defence its about moving more money to rich people.

@katarn999 Capitalism does not guarantee a country will become fascist - but the tendency if left unchecked is to become fascist. The rich will inexorably move the country to this, even unwittingly 1

@ykalon Ill reply in parts as they get deleted: YES BUT capitalism always gets to that point 100% of the time. The only variable is how long it takes. its an unequal system that concentrates money at the top, they money is used to get more money and power and that power is used to remove the guardrails.
10
@ykalon THAT is one of the contradictions of capitalism - it is a revolutionary force cos it is inherently unstable. In 1867 Marx predicted this would happen - and it has. He predicted your unaffordable housing and your ultra processed food, your de industrialisation and your high rent. He didnt predict WHEN it would happen, but he predicted it WOULD happen.

@katarn999 This is the inevitable trajectory - eventually the state and the industry / ecomony become one. This system is so inherently unfair and unstable that it requires a unifying force, a national purpose and that requires an enemy - preferably an external enemy and an INTERNAL enemy. 1

@ykalon It might take 50 years, 500 years or 5000 but it will ALWAYS end up as totally corrputed. It can NOT be stopped. Imagine a teater totter with a ball bearing just of centre - it will push that side down slighty so it wil roll out and push it down more and faster.

@DissectGibberish There is no "communist side" about it - Im a communist I live in a country where I get to VOTE communist, where the communist party has seats in the government. But that is irrelevant to the facts. Also - if you are Am4ric4n you likely have no idea what communism is about [as you equated it with fascism in your comment] so I suggest you read an ACTUAL book on the subject.

@katarn999 - OK I wil try and summarise super quick: Capitalism is a funnel that moves money from the bottom to the top. The people at the top use that money to get more money. They create monopolies. they get more money. They buy up politicians. they get more money. They get more power and they use that power to get more money. Until they have the maximum extraction they can get out of the ECOMONY. But they want more money - so they start to eat the government and you get a $1 trillion defence budget that is 80% bigger than needed cos its not about defence its about moving more money to rich people. This is the inevitable trajectory - eventually the state and the industry / ecomony become one. This system is so inherently unfair and unstable that it requires a unifying force, a national purpose and that requires an enemy - preferably an external enemy and an INTERNAL enemy. The internal enemy can be blamed for your life being bad AND for all the failure of the corporate state. Everyting becomes the fault of the internal enemy whilst you are trying to fight off the external enemy to save the people, this is why they must work and breed and suffer - not for the rich, but for the good of the country. Capitalism does not guarantee a country will become fascist - but the tendency if left unchecked is to become fascist. The rich will inexorably move the country to this, even unwittingly

@katarn999 Fisrt one out of order : Capitalism is a funnel that moves money from the b-o-t-t-o-m to the top. The people at the top use that money to get more money. They create m-o-n-o-p-o-l-i-e-s. they get more money. They b-u-y up p-o-l-i-t-i-c-i-a-n-s. they get more money. They get more p-o-w-e-r and they use that p-o-w-e-r to get more money. Until they have the maximum extraction they can get out of the ECOMONY.

@annerigby4400 "that democracy by its very nature enables extremes?" No - most people are middle of the road, only a corruption of democracy can lead to extremes. And money corrupts democracy. "badly educated population is exactly what the likes of trump, putin and h..... need". Remember that the German population was VERY educated, that said they had no precedent to learn from. "The problem is perhaps that a dumbed-down population is more likely to 'accept their lot'". 100% correct. Ill send another mesage

@annerigby4400 This is the story of why Am3ric4 is full of id!ots In the late 1970's and early 80's computers became a thing and you could process lots of statistical data for the first time. And the political parties did... The data showed the GOP they would be demographic-ed out of existence in a couple of decades. It also showed the GOP that stup!d badly educated people - amazingly - voted for them. Voted AGAINST their own interests, as blue-collar workers and for the GOP. So the GOP started to breed their own supporters. They systematically defunded education - in 1976 education was 5.7% of GDP. In 1983 it was 3.4% Some of the specific changes they made were to STOP teaching critical thinking skills, skills that ALLOW people to spot a lie. And it was wildly successful. Am3ric4 now has an uneducated subclass of 35% id!ots and it is enough to swing elections. Thatcher did the same in the UK and that led in the end to Brexit. If you cant tell a lie is a lie then you vote for the people telling the biggest lie.

@ProudDad1976 - NO but its getting increasingly difficult to say its a good system. Red Lobster didn't go bust due to shrimp, it went bust cos Private Equity robbed it and loaded it up with debt. Boeing cant make safe planes cos it has also been robbed blind.

@DissectGibberish YEP - they get c-o-u-p-e-d by the U5A - or bancrupted by the U5A. Dont worry you will get to enjoy communism if you live another 50 years... 😀
