@yeetdeets - Ok - I am not an expert - but YES I am aware that the whole "meat is very bad" issue is incredibly distorted. For one - Bison are big cows, there are fewer cows in America now than there were bison 300 years ago. Yes - strategic grazing of cattle - its actually being reintroduced in the Scottish highlands. Monsanto monoculture - very bad. Very very bad. NOT resistant to local diseases and pests. Crops need to be grown and selected over and over for the VERY LOCAL conditions - literally, a farmer on the south side of a hill needs a different crop to the one on the north side and when we had farms selecting and saving grain for re planting that is what happened. Fields need to be MUCH smaller and hedgerows re planted to allow insects that eat the pests to get into the field and do their work. Have you watched the Jeremy Clarkson program "Clarksons Farm" - he is actually very very good on these issues - unexpectedly. In summary - almost everything we have done to industrialized farming over the last 100 years has been BAD. To be sustainable it needs to take a 20% knock in productivity otherwise the land will be sterile in 30 years to 50 years.

@yeetdeets - Might be biomass - as I say I am not the expert - this is all from memory. But yeah the other thing is cows produce methane - which is bad. But that it broken down in the atmosphere over about 15 years. so as long as the number of cows does NOT INCREASE the argument is nonsense. Cow methane does NOT endlessly accumulate in the atmosphere. The water argument is BS as well as cows EAY most of their water intake in the grass - feed lot cows are obviously worse that field cows. But the whole argument has been hijacked by the vegan militants - and that does not help ANYONE cos that allows the climate deniers to quote facts and be correct t.

Yeah - My sister is a scientist that did a lot of work on soil CO2 for the world bank a few years ago. Its very interesting - and we have to make changes to the way we manage fields. But once you deep plough a field it takes about 100 years for it to fix the same level of CO2 back in... So it is incredibly important that we stop using ever bigger tractors that compact the soil so much and just subsoil plough to break it back up again.

I saw your comment..!!! Dont worry too much - there are also tipping points that go in the GOOD direction as well as the bad - so we might not be as screwed as people think - but don't tell anyone cos if we mention that people will stop doing stuff and then we WILL be screwed...!!!
