WHERE I LIVE IN EUROPE I can buy raw unpasteurised milk directly from the back of the farmer's trailer when he arrives at 7am Everyone is waiting with their bottles every morning, its lovely and the cream rises to the top within a couple of hours - but is does NOT last long before it goes off. There is a reason the milk man came every day...!!!

NA where I live the babas ferment locusts every year, at least I assume they do, they ferment everything else. I have jars of things in my kitchen I have been given -= I have no idea what they are.

@TastingHistory Ah thank you - I get that impression about life in general in the past - it was worse than modern life but not as bad as we like to think.

@FrikInCasualMode I can get Kefir, natural yoghurt and Ayran which is like a Bulgarian kefir [though lots of places cheat and just use yoghurt water and salt]. Im good if I have them as a one off, but 2 days in a row is still an issue to me. I had to go on a completely sugar and carbohydrate-free diet until my pancreas recovered from viral damage. If I had use insulin it would never have recovered - obviously lacTOSE is a sugar. so I am now re-introducing food stuffs carefully

FERMENT THE LOCUSTS...!!! Also - only found your channel today, noted that you just hit 3 years and you have 2.1 million subs and I can totally see why...!!! Exceptionally well-written and produced videos.

HERE IN BULGARIA we are lucky enough to have people who still hand-make butter, it has almost no resemblance to shop butter. I GOT some home mage goats milk butter yesterday.

PLEASE ANSWER A QUESTION Is historical food - generally speaking - better, the same or worse than modern food...?

@black_rabbit_0f_inle805 It always amazes me the number of things that are illegal in the "land of the free". We can distil our own whisky / vodka / Rakia in the garden. But you DO now need a licence for the still [about $60] cos they are trying to cut down on the explosions. You guys go to prison that.

@FrikInCasualMode YEAH for a long while I could not drink it for medical reasons but I can now and its LOVELY. Im re-introducing it slowly as it will have a high bacteria load that my stomach won't be used to having not drunk it for 5 years.
