BULGARIA HERE - 2 years paid parental leave if you have a child. 8 weeks for the father. Hot fresh food delivered to your door every day if your child is under school age. Also - distributed, not centralised, schooling so the schools are all walking distance from your apartment / home. The 3 age groups of schools are located together so older kids can walk the younger ones to school and home from school. Many schools have dorms so the kids can stay a night or two each week to give the parents a break. 1 child psychologist to every 300 pupils in a school, so kids talk to the school psychologist as just part of their schooling. OH and driving is taught from 5 years old in little electric cars so being a good polite driver is ingrained into the children. Yeah but Bulgaria IS the richest country in Europe so what do you expect, OH WAIT NO - its the poorest country in the EU... But it values its children cos children are literally tomorrow's society and if you abuse them you get a horrible society full of messed up, selfish people. University is $1500 a year.

ITS ACTUALLY VERY DIFFICULT to explain to an American HOW CRAZY you look to the rest of the world when it comes to guns. Imagine if almost every European kept a 1000lb Bull in their living room, and every single day bulls accidentally killed our kids. And some kids took the bull to school and it killed and tramples 5 ot 10 kids. And other took the bull to a church and it killed 20 people. And each year 30,000 were killed by bulls. BUT 30% of the population almost literally got a hard-on over bulls!!! >>> They LOVED bulls and took their bull everywhere, even though it terrified other people. And no matter how many people the bulls killed, it was in our CONSTITUTION that we could keep a tell trained cow for milk. But the right-wing nut jobs insisted that a 1000lb psychotic bull was the same as a well-trained cow for milk. so we just accepted our children being killed by bulls cos there is nothing we can do to stop it.

@thundrune1554 - I agree - but due to our history we are hyper-aware of it. Not saying its not a problem, but we do keep an ey on it every closely.

@heatherkevinm - Im English and we are nothing like as nice to children. Being nice to children was a new thing for me when I moved to Bulgaria. Then I realised it was a large part of WHY I moved to Bulgaria, I was just unaware that it was a nice place to live because they treated children well. So even though I dont HAVE children I absolutely understand that im not paying my taxes "to look after other people's kids" but to make society a better place for ME to live in.

@heatherkevinm - When I moved here the driving was the worst I had ever see, and I had driven in Africa! About 2 years later they introduced the driving in little electric cars at school - 10 years on the average standard of driving is FANTASTIC. So polite, so correct. Young lads don't scream about at 60 in 30 zones. The majority of antisocial driving is 20 to 30 year olds. If you teach then from 5 years onwards how to be decent humans on the road it makes a HUGE difference, And it goes for all parts of society.
