I live in Bulgaria - I literally DO NOT have a fridge. I go buy what I need as I want to eat - there are 20 small shops near me selling everything from coffee they roast in the back of the shop to the butchers that kill their own meat to the shop that sells the cheese made by the old lady with the buckets and the peanuts in the little trays a guy delivers hot roast each morning. I also gave away my car 6 months ago cos the council had declared it abandoned as I had not used it in 3 years. The battery electric bus to the center of the city is every 7 minutes and the trolly bus is every 5 minutes.

@duchessedeberne3909 - Im incredibly lucky. I live in an old communist apartment block - one of those nightmare looking things you see on TV and recoil in horror. I was such a total snob when I moved here and actually they are AMAZING. I have genuinely never been happier than I am in my little community. I have just been out and bought some "Hambuski Salam" which is like a chopped ham and herbs in a fat salami type thing for a snack. The good thing about not having a fridge is you have to be hungry enough to go get food - so you dont snack.

@duchessedeberne3909 - I have lived in many single houses with a garden and I would not go back to one now. I would be SO LONELY. Yes, it matters which block you are in and who your neighbours are. ive been in a bad block and a good one - this one is the best. The neighbours are so nice and everyone looks after everyone else. Its a very old block and very tatty. But there are always children playing and the old people looking after them. I never in my life would have thought that I would be at my happiest living in an old communist apartment block LOL

WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE 1970'S America was a magical place you dreamed about moving to - in 2022 its a dystopian hellscape you never want to visit...

@duchessedeberne3909 - Did you like living in the block?
