@kiwinewz2042 - well you have to remember that 85% of Russians own their own home with no mortgage - cos evil communism. I live in Bulgaria now and if you look at the $$$ per person per month you think they are living in poverty. I live on about $1000 a month and I SAVE MONEY every month having paid my rent and bills and I buy whole organic locally grown food - not processed. I would have to earn $45k in the Uk to have this lifestyle. Its really really hard to compare $ in Russia to $ in the USA cos you cant even just compare the cost of food if you are not paying a mortgage or rent and the busses are 50c no mattrer how far you go. The structure of society is so different.

@kiwinewz2042 - QUOTE" Tell me how I look at home ownership in a Western way child." Dude - I dont have to tell you a damn thing when you refer to ME as child...! But I LITERALLY explained how your previous comment was framing home ownership in a western way. Now Im sorry for your circumstances but DO NOT f-king talk to me like that. END OF CONVERSATION.

@kiwinewz2042 - You are looking at it in a VERY western way the "ownership"., They dont see it as a sacred asset as we westerners do. its a home, you have a right to a home. And over here they are so cheap they are not this lifetime achievement. So yes the "ownership" was a result of the fall of the USSR, correct. they dont see that as a positive on the whole. The idea that the average person in the USSR thanks the west for destroying the USSR is a western propaganda myth. It leads to literal starvation and vast amounts of crime. they had 20 years of almost totally unreported in the west abject poverty and violence. The average person does not see the transfer of the house they lived in to them by a piece of paper as making up for that. Yes many families here have multiple houses they dont use. I live in a "commie block" the old soviet apartment blocks - why WAY better than you would ever think, all my neighbours disappear ion a weekend and Im alone cos they all have 2nd houses in the villages... So how do you compare a person living on $500 a month here with no mortgage and a 2nd home in the countryside with an average worker in the USA. The very structure of society is so different that a direct comparison is not possible. I dont have a car for example. Cos the public transport is so good and so cheap, how do you compare that to an American family that NEEDS 2 cars just to live...??? Businesses have busses that pick up their workers - YOU don't DRIVE to work, its the employer's job to get you to work... Its such a different culture it takes 10 years to even start to understand it properly.
