  1. Very much like America - its glossed over. BUT its nothing like as controversial to discuss it or mention it. In America, there seems to be a very active movement to stop ALL discussions of the atrocities of America, whereas in Britain, there is a more passive neglect of discussing it. A large percentage of British people are very aware of the atrocities - the ones who are not tend to be right-leaning or come from right-leaning families.

  2.  @markhayward7400  I think you make a good point. It might be better to discuss empires FULL STOP. And that one empire simply rises and then falls being replaced by another one. The British Empire was replaced by the American empire and it replaced the Dutch, Ottoman and Portuguese. The British Empire was just a moment in time as the global extractionists.

  4. America committed atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan in the last 20 years - its what Empires DO...!!! Im quite sure the Chinese will commit atrocities when they take over from America as the leading empire.
