Im an author on psychology and the collapse of civilisations living in Europe. There is absolutely NO mystery why Trump was elected. The working people of America were TOTALLY betrayed by both the GOP and the Dems for 40 years, their jobs sent overseas, their towns abandoned to opium and rust. Berni Sanders was very clearly the winner of the primary and the corporate POS Dems chated and served up HRH and 50 million forgotten Americans who had got their hopes up for change though F-UK YOU. Trump lied to them, but at least he did not IGNORE THEM. He spoke to the working class, HE SPOKE TO THEM, literally, he went and talked to them, it was lies but ti was ATTENTION for the first time in 40 years someone was paying them attention. There is no mystery at all. 100,000 people in the heart of America died of opium overdoses last year, is it on the news every night "the Opium debate"? like the "Gun debate" NO - cos their lives DONT MATTER to anyone. Trump supporters are the loneliest people in America BEFORE they became Trump supporters. The life expectancy of a white male in the Missippie Delta is lower than that of a male in Bangladesh - the poorest part of the Indian subcontinent. As a country, you have utterly abandoned these people to literally die. The fact "will always be the most perplexing question" for you shows that you have NEVER considered their plight. The fact you have never considered their plight IS WHY TRUMP WON.

@Chris-hupe That is because the national debt is irrelevant - inflation is 10% in the USA this year in real terms - the debt just went down by 10% So ironically you are wrong - Biden lowered the national debt. If its another 10% year next year he might knock 25% off the national debt by the time he leaves office. ONLY the GOP and idiots worry about the national debt in countries that issue it in their own currency - its just a way of giving money to rich people in the form of bonds.
