@InfinityHS - I don't want flying cars - but the 10 hour week for everyone I would like that. Im an author and I work about 10 or so hours a week and honestly I wish everyone could live as I do... Im astonishingly lucky and I never forget it. But with the level of automation and productivity why are we working 50% longer than a medieval peasant...???

@anthrobug - YEP - its your surplus-value. Productivity has increased 70% over the last 30 years. Wages have remained static. So in other words we now produce as much in 23.5 hours as we used to in 40 hours, but its the capitalist who gets to KEEP your surplus labour. so what the futurists got wrong was they assumed the capitalists would settle for the same profit per worker, but NO, they want MORE MONEY The futurists were pretty much spot on with the productivity, they just got the humanity of the capitalists totally wrong. We COULD be working 10 to 15 hours, instead, we work 40 to 50 hours making plastic crap that breaks after 6 months and needs to be bought again... Industrialised ultra-low-cost food production subsidises static wages giving the impression of advancement, easy credit did the same - only now its all starting to come crashing down... things cant be maintained at artificially low prices any longer and its all going to go BOOM
