@johnhough4445 There are coatings that can do this - especially with things like stars and trees where there is a lot of random things. Its a type of Fresnel lens - here found you a video https://youtu.be/TJvGOI263po

I think your story is cool - its also really easy to do - https://youtu.be/TJvGOI263po Just put the right fresnel lens on the bottom of your balloon thing and on a night you will just see stars but they will appear and disappear and move cos you are looking at a "projection" of the stars at the side of the object being moved by the lens

@johnhough4445 Exactly - this tech bends it from the sides not the back - so its great in forests, night sky, highways etc. Anywhere the laft and right look very similar to the bit you are hiding. There are apparently paint on coatings that can sort of achieve a similar result, but I have not seen them
